Maryam Nassir Zadeh

If you haven't been to this store located at 123 Norfolk Street you are really missing something.  It's probably the best curated and displayed store in NY.  The owners Maryam and Uday travel the world looking for unique objects that they would want to own - and you will too.  Recent destinations include Mexico, Pakistan, and Ecuador.  They tend to carry designers that are under the radar such as:

Electric Feathers
Jensen & Conroy
Dieppa Restrepo
Mania Mania
Michelle Lane
Bodkin

Georgia On My Mind

It's a name... a state... and a beauty haven on gritty Houston Street.  Georgia is where I go to stock up on products I love like Barex shampoo and conditioner when I'm in New York.  They were the first to introduce me to Moroccanoil when I needed something to smooth frizzy ends.  In addition to many unique products, there is a salon in the back.  Co-owners Kiara Ellozy and Jodie Patterson have created a cool homey cache of beauty worth a stop on your way to NoLita.

P.S. They will ship!

413 Bleeker Street

Finally!  NARS opens a store of his own on Bleeker Street close to Marc Jacobs and Magnolia Bakery... pretty good company.  For the last 3 seasons Francois Nars has been collaborating with Marc Jacobs sending women down the runway with his unique fingerprint.  Now they live practically next door to each other in the West Village.  Makeup artist professional discount cards will be issued for the store soon through the website NARS.  I just had to go take a look.

Backstage at Oscar de la Renta

My last show of Fashion Week was Oscar de la Renta.  It was a big show with 45 girls so we had about 20 makeup artists on Gucci's team.  Orlando Pita did the hair and he had as many assistants. There were two shows and a lot of beautiful clothes.

Backstage at Zero + Maria Carnejo

I was lucky enough to work at the show of one of my favorite designers, Maria Carnejo. Her prints are so interesting & unique and her clothes feel timeless & hip at the same time. Revlon Global Artistic Director Gucci Westman made the girls glow with bronzer and eyes inspired by the "sunset" in Maria's prints. The hair was groomed to flow gorgeously down the runway.  The pictures say it all.

Backstage at Tory Burch

For Tory Burch the lead makeup artist, Diane Kendal (sponsored by MAC) kept the faces fresh and what she called "groomy" with a lightly defined eye, a hint of blush on the cheek, and natural lips with only a clear balm. Hair stylist Odile Gilbert (sponsored by Kerastase) kept hair long and beautiful adding extensions when needed to keep it looking full & luscious in the front.
