Colorful Hair

Everyone's doing it.  I did it.  Are you thinking about doing it?

Putting color in your hair is all the rage right now as you've probably noticed.  I've seen pretty much every shade from shocking pink, lavender purple, and a whole head of blue.  Check out Kelly Osbourne's latest color...

You can do it yourself, but from my experience it's best to leave color to the professionals.  I went to Courtney Kimball at Lustre Salon in Hayes Valley.

These pictures might inspire you to take the plunge.

Daryl K Spring '12 Show

I always try to attend a few fashion shows when I'm in NY and last Fall I went to Daryl K's 20th Anniversary Show.  She is an amazing designer and I have a lot of her current and older stuff.  I always get compliments when I wear her clothes.  Confession:  I finally splurged on her black leather leggings and I haven't looked back.

The Queen of Cool.

Paris Beauty Trends

Here are some of my favorite looks from the Paris shows.

At Dior Pat McGrath designed a minimal polished look with nicely groomed eyebrows, mascara on upper & lower lashes, and shadow to emphasize the crease in the eyelid.

Isabel Marant - the queen of cool had very natural looking makeup with lightly textured hair.  Makeup artist Karem Herman created a California sun kissed glow using lots of bronzer and a little color on the lips.

Jean Paul Gaultier's hair  by Guido Palau had a "graffiti stripe" with long extensions.  The makeup by Stephane Marais has a "fucked up beauty" quality created with liquid eyeliner and greasepaint.

For Stella McCartney Pat McGrath used a brilliant cobalt blue mascara.

At Givenchy Pat McGrath created a Goth look by using burgundy around the the eyes and a deep mulberry lipstick.

Now is the time to add some colored mascara to your own makeup bag.  A little while ago I bought Benefit's Bad Gal in Plum and Buxom's Blue Noir.
